Human interaction and food scarcity

Snow leopards are threatened by territory loss and reduction of natural food sources largely due to human disturbances and climate change. Occasionally, snow leopards will prey on the livestock of local herders as an alternative to their increasingly scarce natural prey. This puts snow leopards in jeopardy as herders seek to protect their flocks, sometimes killing snow leopards in retaliation for lost livestock.

Working with you to help protect snow leopards

Your support will help WWF-Canada learn more about these elusive cats so that we can focus our conservation efforts in the regions where snow leopards and humans interact most. Your gift will support initiatives such as identifying key snow leopard hunting grounds and working with local herders to prevent livestock losses.

Your generous gift today can help protect snow leopards and their habitats.
